Grandparents arrested for torturing seven-year-old grand-daughter
A 57-year-old man, Joseph Akporugo and his wife, Janet, have been arrested by police in Ogun State for torturing their seven-year-old granddaughter.
The child, who was accused of killing her father by witchcraft, had several scars on her body.
The girl walked into the house of a nearby police constable in Awa-Ijebu area of the state and reported her ordeal at the hands of her grandparents, with whom she had been living since her father’s death.
She narrated how the couple burned her with hot rubber.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed that the Akporugos have been arrested.
