Gunmen kidnap popular Nigerian blogger in Imo

Mr. Ifeanyi Onyenankeya, a popular blogger in Imo State has been abducted by suspected gunmen.

The popular blogger was reportedly abducted on Monday night at his father’s compound, No. 3, Duru Close, Ekeagbara, Okigwe. a family source told Punch.

Onyenankeya the owner of two popular news blogs, Okigwe Arena and Imo Arena who abducted by three gunmen in a Sienna SUV.

They allegedly beat him before whisking him away. He was said to had resisted them initially.

Meanwhile, his relation had announced his abduction on social media, he said;

“This young man in the picture is by name Ifeanyi Onyenankeya from Arondizuogu in Okigwe Local Government, a staff of National Examinations Council.

“He is 6.2 ft tall, dark in complexion, slim and a Christian. He is the admin of Okigwe arena/Imo arena on Facebook.

“He was kidnapped in his father’s compound (3, Duru Close, Ekeagbara Okigwe) yesterday 12th August, 2019 between 7 and 8pm by three men wearing masks after being brutally beaten in an attempt to resist Kidnap. These men were said to have come in a Sienna car.

“Any useful information would be appreciated. Call 08035406874 or the nearest Police Station.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, confirmed that some gunmen abducted the blogger.

He, however, said that the Command had yet to confirm if it was a case of kidnap.

The Police spokesperson said that investigation had commenced, with a view to unravelling the circumstances behind the incident.

Ikeokwu said, “Yes, the news is confirmed, but we cannot categorically say it is a case of kidnap or not.

“As we speak, they have not called for any ransom.

“We heard that some gunmen came to the victim’s father’s house in Okigwe and abducted him.

“This happened on Monday night and we heard that they (gunmen) came in a Sienna vehicle.

“But investigation has commenced. We are on top of the situation.”

Buhari has only plunged Nigeria into darkness, death and destruction, Fani-Kayode says

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, a staunch critic of the President Buhari-led administration has said that the five years of President Muhammadu Buhari was “disastrous.”

Femi Fani-Kayode disagreed with Special Adviser to Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, whose weekly column argued the President’s emergence, saved the nation from collapse in 2015.

Fani-Kayode via his Twitter handle had argued that the emergence of Buhari in 2015 annihilated Nigeria and plunged her into darkness, death, and destruction.

He added that the president came to steal, kill and destroy, pointing out that for the last 5 disastrous years that is all he has done.

2ND Term: Buhari to mark ‘low-key’ anniversary, Presidency reveals

The Presidency has said that the first anniversary of the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari will be celebrated in a low-key manner.

This was disclosed in a statement posted by Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu on his official Facebook page.

Shehu, who did not give reasons for the decision, however, said the achievements of the current administration will be reeled out via digital platforms.

He urged Nigerians to visit presidential handles to read about some of Buhari’s achievements since assuming power in 2015.

According to Shehu: “The First Anniversary anniversary of the Muhammadu Buhari government’s second term will be marked low-keyed.

“Narratives of the government’s achievements over the past five years which normally would have been showcased by ministers and the party will go digital.

Buhari’s Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina had yesterday reeled out some of the president’s achievements since assuming power in 2015.
