Residents of Arepo area of Ogun State, on Monday morning staged a peaceful protest at Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company in Alausa, Lagos State.This was made known few minutes ago on the Twitter handle of @rrslagos767 shared on @Gidi_Traffic.

The residents who carried out a peaceful protest at IKDC office in Alausa, were seen carrying placards with inscriptions like; #Save Arepo from darkness, #Fashola must sack IKDC, #Say no billing without light etc.

The angry residents said they were fed up with the no light predicament that they have been compelled to live with.

Recall that on August 17, 2016, the Management of Ikeja Electric blamed the 11-day blackout in parts of Arepo, including Journalists Estate, on broken poles by the nearby Kara bridge.

The Head of Corporate Communication Unit of the company, Felix Ofulue, explained that the affected poles carried the wires that supplied power to the area.

He pleaded with residents of the affected area and assured them that the company’s engineers were working round the clock to replace the affected poles with new ones and restore power supply.

However, ever since the management gave this reason for the power outage in the area, nothing has been done to change the power situation in the area.

The residents said they have been spending money to buy fuel to run their generators for electricity in the area.
