HE IS CERTAINLY A JOKER! Music enthusiasts knock Burna Boy over Coachella

Published

Music enthusiasts, fans and non-fans of Burna Boy, are having a field day on social media platforms analysing a controversial statement by the singer over his Coachella debut with Mr Eazi.

Some described him as a “Discount Fela, Okirika Bob Marley, Social Media Lucky Dube & Upgraded Daddy Showkey .”

Recall that the Afrofusion singer had emphatically stated that he is an “African Giant” and questioned the organisers of Coachella for publishing his name in small fonts on its event flyer.

Burna Boy had also demanded that the organisers “fix things” quickly in a since-deleted post on his Instagram page.

However, his bold statements have attracted a myriad of Twitter reactions with many faulting his stance.

Some music lovers and non-fans lambasted Burna for disrespecting one of the most famous, and profitable music festivals in the United States and all over the world.

Many also mocked him for calling himself an “African Giant” and used derogatory and hilarious meme’s to describe the “Ye” crooner.

Some also supported the 27-year-old singer claiming that he had a right to demand the kind of treatment he deserved.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy has painstakingly explained himself in a recent post on his Insta stories,

Burna said that nothing he says comes from any place of pride or any sense of entitlement.

The post reads;

“I represent a whole generation of solid African creatives going global.

“Not the soft, low self-esteem African with the slave mentality. I will soon grant an interview soon to make myself understood.

“Nothing i say comes from any place of “pride” or any sense of entitlement.

“It comes from my vision of the future of Africa, not just African music.

On January 3, 2019, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival released its lineup.

Headlining the popular annual event, held in Indio, California, are Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande.

Joining them in April for the first time are Nigerian music stars Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy and Tosin Ajibade, better known as Mr Eazi.
