Barcelona’s living legend, Lionel Messi, has revealed his eldest son Thiago criticises him to his face after a bad game.

Messi says Thiago makes sure he talks about those off days openly.

He adds that the discussions help him to reflect and improve for the next game.

Messi said:

“Thiago understands more about football because he is older and talks about everything about football, he is very involved in everything related to football.

“I have already had some criticism from him! Barcelona, La Liga, the Champions League… he follows it all. He likes it, he asks questions and he gives me pointers when things don’t go so well.

“It’s always difficult to digest defeats and bad performances, but Thiago now forces me to comment on what happened and explain why we did not win. Now, we talk a lot more.”

Messi and Barca will attempt to overturn to a 2-0 deficit when they welcome Sevilla to Camp Nou on Thursday for the second leg in Copa del Rey.
