HE SET A PRECEDENT! How Arsene Wenger may get Jose Mourinho punished for Chelsea vs. Man United fracas
Following weekend’s fracas between Jose Mourinho and Chelsea’s second assistant coach Marco Ianni, the FA may punish the Manchester United coach due to a precedent set by Arsene Wenger.
Mourinho could be fined by the FA part his part in the fracas that followed Chelsea’s late equaliser against Manchester United on Saturday.
Mourinho was not the aggressor in the incident which followed Ross Barkley’s 95th-minute leveller in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. Ianni punched the air and then appeared to celebrate in front of Mourinho again as he walked past, causing Mourinho to react angrily as both benches got caught up in the heat of the moment.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has apologised for Ianni’s behaviour, and the club themselves are said to be “embarrassed” by it .
But that may not stop Mourinho from being punished by the FA.

The precedent for such incidents was set back in November 2006 when Wenger became involved in a confrontation with the then West Ham boss Alan Pardew following a Marlon Harewood winning goal for the Hammers.
Wenger was said to believe that Pardew celebrated the goal in an over-enthusiastic way right in front of him, and so pushed him away, leading to a confrontation between the pair.
They were both charged by the FA, but only Wenger was fined £10,000. Pardew was cleared despite Wenger’s insistence that he started the incident.
It remains to be seen whether the FA will treat Saturday’s confrontation at Stamford Bridge in a similar manner.
Mourinho accepted Chelsea’s apologies after the game.
“I am not annoyed with anything,” he said.
“What happened was with Sarri’s assistant, and Sarri was the first one to come to me to say he would resolve the problem internally with me. After that his assistant came to me in Sarri’s office and apologised to me.

“I immediately said if you really feel that way, and you want to apologise, of course I accept apologies, and to forget it because I made lots of mistakes in my career. So I’m not going to kill you because of one.”
