Hilarious reactions as Funke Akindele, Twitter users claim Chicken Republic ran out of chicken
Twitter Nigeria is presently abuzz over claims by popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello and some Twitter users that popular quick service restaurant, Chicken Republic, ran out of chicken at some of its outlets in Lagos on Monday.
Akindele and other Twitter users had taken to the microblogging site to claim that they visited the outlet but were told by their attendants that the outlet had no chicken.
The Nollywood star had taken to Twitter on Monday morning to share her experience after visiting a Chicken republic outlet at Sangotedo, in Ajah, Lagos.
She tweeted via her verified handle @funkeakindele:
Just entered #chickenrepublic at sangotedo and alas they said no chicken ??? Ko Ye mi! I don’t get it… a chicken place wey no get chicken ??and this hunger wey Dey my body tie wrapper o!!! #somebodyhelp

Chicken Republic reacted to Akindele’s tweet apologising.
The company wrote in the comment section:
Hi Funke, we apologize for this inconvenience and we are making sure that we have chicken available in that outlet. We apologize for this.

Another Twitter user identified simply as Bisola also tweeted on Monday morning that she ordered food from Chicken Republic but was told they have run out of chicken.

She tweeted:
I ordered Chicken Republic and they called me to say that they do not have chicken. Guys, what is happening?

Shortly after Funke Akindele’s tweet went viral on Twitter, other users started sharing similar experiences.

Shoprite Circle mall didn’t have chicken at their deli yesterday. Took me driving to 3 cold rooms to find even Nigerian chicken. I’m expecting more eateries to stop having chicken, reduce their chicken portions very soon.
