HIT AND RUN! U.S police launch search for car that killed Nigerian nurse in Baltimore

Published

A 24-year-old aspiring Nigerian nurse has been killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Baltimore, U.S.

According to reports, Mariam Idowu Adeleke, who recently celebrated her graduation from Baltimore City Community College, was knocked down while trying to cross Security Boulevard around 10 pm on Wednesday.

That car, described only as a dark coloured sedan, kept going, as the impact knocked the young woman into the path of a second car, which ran over her body sealing her fate.

The hit-and-run vehicle, described as a dark-coloured sedan, is now the focus of an ongoing search.

Police are asking anyone who might have seen anything that night or who have information about that vehicle to contact them, while the family is making a plea of its own to the person who was behind the wheel.

Police determined that a car was travelling westbound on Security Boulevard and struck the pedestrian as she was trying to cross the road.

“She was not in a crosswalk, unfortunately, so I don’t think that the vehicle driver saw her,” said Officer Jennifer Peach, of the Baltimore County Police Department.

“She was struck by a vehicle which we only know as, possibly, a dark-coloured sedan. That vehicle did not remain at the scene.”
