Hollywood actor Luke Perry dies at 52

Legendary Hollywood actor, Luke Perry, popularly known for starring in “Beverly Hills, 90210,” has tragically passed away at age 52.

The actor was hospitalized in Los Angeles on February 27 where he had been shooting scenes for Riverdale at the Warner Bros film lot.

His rep had disclosed that the doctors put Perry in a medically induced coma, hoping to give his brain a “fighting chance.”

According to the Guardian, Perry’s death was confirmed in a statement by a representative of the action on Monday.

“Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke.

“He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiance Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends,” The statement reads.

The star was taken to hospital in Burbank, California, on Wednesday last week after suffering a stroke at home in Sherman Oaks, on the outskirts of Los Angeles.

The statement continued: “The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”

Luke Perry shot into limelight in 1990 when he landed the role of Dylan on the teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210. He soon became a heartthrob that many 90s teenagers swooned over.

His most recent role was on the hit television teen drama series Riverdale, based on the Archie comics, where he played the titular character’s father.

Perry was married to Rachel Minnie Sharp for ten years (from 1993 to 2003) and had two kids together – a son named Jack, born in 1997, and a daughter named Sophie, born in 2000.

During an interview for The Hollywood Reporter back in 2017, Perry said:

“I like playing the father because I like being one, and I think it is a great character in the milieu of this show that I am the grounded one, and I am the guy who truly cares about [K.J. Apa’s Archie], who cares about doing a good job and being a good construction worker. I love that.”
