Dealers in fresh human parts were said to have assaulted some of their customers over the payment of a human hand they supplied.
WuzupNigeria gathered that the dealers lured their customers, identified as Matthew Idosu, John Feyisetan and Samuel Adegbola, to a bush in Ogun State and beat them up after they failed to pay the N1m agreed upon for the hand.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident in a statement.
Oyeyemi said the three human part buyers were arrested by policemen in collaboration with the state security outfit, So-safe Corps, alongside a 40-year-old herbalist, Michael Itomu.
The PPRO explained that the suspects were arrested by the Joint Task Force at Idi-Iroko in the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state.
According to Oyeyemi, the four suspects were arrested for being in possession of a fresh human hand.
The PPRO stated that the suspects had contracted someone in Abeokuta, who promised to get the human hand for them for N1m.
Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following information received by policemen attached to the Idi-Iroko Division.
He said the policemen were told that three suspects had sought the help of a herbalist for money rituals.
Oyeyemi added that the herbalist asked them to provide a fresh human hand before he could help them with the money rituals.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that it was Idosu, who contracted a family friend of his in Abeokuta to provide the human hand alongside two others, who are currently at large.
The PPRO stated,
“On delivering the hand, the dealers demanded the agreed N1m, but the money was not readily available; this led to a serious scuffle between them and they angrily took away the duo of Samuel Adegbola and John Feyisetan into a bush, where they thoroughly beat them before they were released on May 17, 2020.
“It was the action of those, who supplied the hand, that made the whole secret to leak out and which eventually led to their arrest.”
Oyeyemi said following a tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer, Idiroko Division, CSP Sunday Opebiyi, detailed his detectives in collaboration with men of the So-safe Corps to ambush the suspects as a result of which three of them were apprehended in Owode-Yewa.
“Their arrest led to the arrest of the herbalist in the early hours of Tuesday, May 19, 2020,” the PPRO added.
He said the fresh human hand had been taken to the Idi-Iroko General Hospital for preservation.
Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Kenneth Ebrimson, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
“He also directed that other members of the syndicate, who provided the hand, should be hunted and brought to justice,” Oyeyemi added.
Three brothers in Police net over alleged murder of woman in Abuja
Three brothers have been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Abuja, according to Mr. Frank Mba, Public Relations of the Police Force.
Mba, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, said that the suspects, from Isiekenesi, Ideato Local Government in Imo, are helping Police investigation into the May 14 murder of Mrs. Janet Ogbonnaya, a mother of five children.
He said that the suspects were arrested by the Police in their home town where they had allegedly taken refuge after committing the crime in Abuja, to evade arrest.
Mba said that investigation that led to their arrest followed complaints by one Chinedu Ogbonnaya, who alleged that his mother, Janet, 55, a native of Ozuitem in Bende Local Government Area of Abia, had been kidnapped.
Ogbonnaya told the Police that N5 million ransom was being demanded by the kidnappers to secure the mother’s release.
“A comprehensive and painstaking investigation by Police operatives resulted in the arrest of the three suspects, who, in the course of interrogation, revealed that the victim had long been murdered and buried.
“Further findings revealed that the victim, a widow, who had been a Facebook friend of the principal suspect, was lured from her home in Gwagwalada, Abuja to visit the suspect.
“The suspect took advantage of the visit, served her milk laced with drugs, and subsequently murdered her,” he said.
According to him, the victim was buried in a septic tank after which the suspects went ahead to reach out to the family, using her phone, to demand N5 million ransom to secure her release.
Mba said that the suspects, on Thursday, led a team of investigators alongside pathologists to a residence at Wumba District, Lokogoma area of Abuja, where the victim’s decomposing body was exhumed from a septic tank.
The spokesman said that the exhumed body had been taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital for forensic examination, while a Toyota Highlander Jeep belonging to the deceased had also been recovered at a mechanic workshop in Apo, where it had been repainted into a different color.
Mba said that the vehicle documents had been fraudulently changed with ownership of the stolen vehicle criminally transferred to one of the masterminds of the crime.
According to him, the investigation also revealed that the house where the deceased was killed and buried originally belonged to one of the suspects but was hurriedly sold to a third party to obliterate evidence.
“Already, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, has commended the team of Police operatives for a job well done. He has also pledged that perpetrators of crimes will not go undetected and unpunished.
“The Police helmsman has also enjoined citizens to be more security conscious and report any suspicious activities within their neighborhood to the nearest Police Station,” the statement said.
Three to hang 10 years after killing groundnut seller, ex-Niger Delta agitator in Rivers
After 10 years of legal battle, three persons have been sentenced to death over the death of a former Niger Delta agitator, Soboma George, and a groundnut seller, Joy John-Ejims.
The criminals – Dougbra Ogbe, Emmanuel Gladstone, and Bere Matthew – were convicted on three counts bordering on conspiracy and murder of George and John-Ejims in 2010.
Justice George Omereji of the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt in the judgement that lasted for over two hours directed that the convicts be tied on their neck till they are confirmed dead.
He held that the prosecution was able to prove his case beyond reasonable doubts, especially with the evidence of an eyewitness, Emmanuel Eniete, who was hit by a stray bullet during the attack that led to the death of George.
The trial judge noted that evidence and testimonies of the witness had proven that the defendants actually committed the crime as charged.
Omereji noted the confessional statement that the convicts killed George because he wanted to kill them for refusing to assassinate the former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, and then Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State further indicted them.
However, the prosecution counsel, Ipalibo Karibo-Botoye, after the proceeding, expressed happiness that ten years of prosecution, justice had come to stay.
He commended the court for giving George and John-Ejims justice, noting that he was ready to defend his case further at the appeal court.
“We are happy that ten years after the murder of George justice has come to stay. It is a thing of joy that the court saw that we proved our case.
“If they go on appeal we are ready to defend this case to logical conclusion. This is justice for the family.”
Man, 25, breaks into 70-year-old woman’s house in Ogun, rapes her
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Wasiu Bankole, 25, for allegedly raping a 70-year-old woman.
WuzupNigeria reports that detectives from Agbado division in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state arrested the suspect on Wednesday less than 24 hours after he reportedly committed the crime.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident Thursday, said the suspect had confessed to the crime.
Oyeyemi disclosed that the septuagenarian rape victim (name withheld) reported at the Agbado division that while she was sleeping in her house on Tuesday, the suspect broke in and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“The suspect was arrested following a report by the victim who reported at Agbado division that while she was sleeping in her house on the 2nd of June 2020, at Abule Lemode area of Ijoko at about 8:00pm, the suspect suddenly broke into her room, held her down and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her against her consent.
“The victim stated further that it was one of her neighbours who heard her screaming that came to rescue her by using a stick to hit the suspect at his back consequent upon which he jumped off her and ran away leaving his clothes, shoe and torchlight inside her room.
“Upon the report, the DPO Agbado division, SP Kuranga Yero, dispatched his detectives to look for the suspect and bring him to justice. The detectives succeeded in getting him arrested 24 hours after and brought him to the station.
“On interrogation, he confessed committing the crime but claimed to have acted under the influence of alcohol.”
Oyeyemi, however, stated that the victim had been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
