Governor Akinwunmi Ambode



Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Dapo Ambode is a year older today, he was born on June 14, 1963.

The 54-year-old indigene of Epe assumed public office on 29th of May 2015. Ambode in his two years as Governor has made notable landmarks in Lagos.

Akinwunmi Ambode attended St. Jude’s Primary School, Ebutte Meta, Lagos, from 1969-1974, where he sat for the National Common Entrance Examinations.

From 1974-81, Ambode, attended Federal Government College, Warri, Delta State, from 1981-1984, he attended the University of Lagos where he studied Accounting, graduating at the age of 21.

He also has a master’s degree in Accounting from the same Universita as a Chartered Accountant.

As part of Ambode’s commitment to making life better for Lagosians, he launched [Lagos-Kebbi] Lake Rice.

The bag of rice which was sold at a reasonable amount was well appreciated by residents of Lagos State. It was a much-needed respite for a population reeling under the impact of economic recession.

The recently concluded Lagos @50 celebrations was an avenue for the State Governor to complete and commission major infrastructural projects across the states.

It is interesting to know that Ambode, is a very active member of the Federal Government College, Warri Old Students Association and is credited with revitalising the Lagos branch of the Association.

Ambode was a two-time chairman of the Lagos State Branch, and, until recently, was the National President of the Association, a position he held for three years.

In those three years, he executed key projects in the school in conjunction with the alumni network to improve the educational and living standards of the students
