I AM NOT RUNNING FOR OFFICE! Femi Otedola clarifies
Nigerian businessman and Chairman of Forte Oil Plc, Femi Otedola, has refuted claims that he is planning to run for a political office.
This is coming after a video of Otedola taking a public bus popularly known as “molue” circulated on the internet.
Many Nigerians had opined that the business mogul was planning to run for a political office and therefore getting familiar with the public. A parody Twitter account had also announced that Otedola is running for office.
Otedola via his Twitter account denied the reports and said that he will always be on the side of the masses. He wrote,
“My attention has been drawn to a news piece where false information from a parody account was posted. I am a man of the people and I will always be on the side of the masses but I am stating clearly via this medium that I am not running for office.
“The Governor of Lagos State is doing a commendable job and Lagosians should be proud of him.
“Fake accounts in my name have to have the word “parody” in their bio/profile to exist. @verified has recently paused verifications so, until I get the blue tick, please always ensure to read the bio/profile section of accounts that appear to be mine.
“Please beware of impersonators that may try to leverage on my profile. My handle is @realFemiOtedola using the small letter for “L” in real. I just blocked an impersonator that used the capital letter for “i” in real which, when put side by side, look identical. Please beware.”
Otedola joined the trendy social media platform, on May 11, 2018, but his account has not been verified.
