Music superstar, Davido, has said that he left the country before the 2018 Osun elections because of the safety of his family and close associates.

The singer said if he had stayed in the country, things would not have gone smoothly for him as the government were beginning to track his activities.

Recall that some fans tongue-lashed the “OBO ” crooner for jetting out of Nigeria after his unending campaign of calumny against the current governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Even after the election and subsequent court rulings,  Davido via his social media platforms had relentlessly claimed that Oyetola stole Senator Ademola Adeleke’s mandate.

Speaking with journalists and close associates at his album private listening event on Wednesday, which held at Landmark Events, Victoria Island, Davido also said there is no money Osun State can make in the next 30 to 40 years that his father, Adedeji Adeleke, has not already made.

According to Sahara reporters, the singer while fielding questions from MTV Base TV host, Ehiz, said;

“With the whole politics thing it was first about family. Honestly, it was first about family. I was in Osun with my guys. We saw everything in plain sight. Let me tell you a story about my uncle. My uncle is the last born of the family. The original politician of the family is Serubawon, my father’s elder brother.

“He was the first governor of Osun state; came back then went for senator you know when everybody for the state knows that this is the next governor and then we just woke up one day and they said he went to eat somewhere and he died.

“Yoruba culture when somebody holds an office and he passes on they either give the bride or the close relatives. The next in line is B red’s daddy and he is just a happy person. He doesn’t like politics but when you lose your brother everybody knows what’s up. With that, they wanted to give my uncle automatically.

“A day to them swearing him in as senator they said no we want to do re-election another guy has come up and my father doesn’t like wahala so he said let’s go to the other party if we lose we pack our thing and go. The next day we did election my uncle cleared 16 out of 17 local government areas.

“He became a senator in just a week. His own journey to winning that governorship primary election was out of sight that was how we knew this one nah God.

“It was painful and will tell everybody here that was the real reason I was not even in the country because of the politics. I have to watch what I say. If I was around he no go dey OK for me and my people. So I had to be a man and say look let me stay away.

“We have Adeleke University all the roads that lead was done by my father. There’s no money Osun wants to make in the next 30 to 40 years that my father has not made. The way things turned out was crazy.

When asked if he got any backlash for doing what he did, he said no According to him, he met an APC chieftain at a wedding in Paris where they both shared a joke.

He said he “felt shebi una don take am”.

“I’m praying every day for the country. Everybody is complaining why you talking about politics. I have an American passport I could have chosen to stay there. But this is home and I am comfortable here,” he added.

Davido’s album, ‘A Good Time’, will be released in October.

Tanzanian singer, Vanessa Hau Mdee, has announced her decision to quit her music career.

The 32-year-old songstress said it on her 29 minutes Podcast “Deep Dive with Vanessa Mdee”.

According to Mdee, the music industry is demonic and she is currently working on being an advocate of honesty, beauty and what facing your demons can do for you.

She said,

“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but my mission is to be a light. I know that I would probably disappoint a few people and that’s okay.

”I know that my fans don’t wanna hear this but guess what am never be too far away from you, trust me. The reason why I had to leave the industry is that I needed to choose my life, the music industry is demonic.

”People will tell you half-truth about what really goes on, and the truth is I just wanna be an advocate for honesty and beauty and being a sincere advocate for what facing your demons can do for You.

“Now my fans are probably asking themselves right now; Are you gonna never sing again? Are we gonna never see you perform? Let me reiterate, I love music, I love to create, I love to perform, I’m a vessel, this is what I was brought on earth to be.

Mdee also recalled becoming an alcoholic who could drink herself to sleep after becoming depressed.

“My advice to someone out there is that be true to who you are. I used to say this in many interviews but not really understand any of it, because then again it sounded like the right thing to say.

”But be true to who you are, I had to look at myself, face myself that it was pain, it was shameful, it was scary but I had to do it because there was no other way and in that I found peace and in that I found elevation, I found desire and passion for life.
