The woman, who revealed that she has been living in Italy for about 30 years, said she has been visiting the Nigerian Embassy in the country since last year to get an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) but the officials always turn down her request.

The elderly woman was seen in the footage with some documents and a backpack as she was being manhandled by an Embassy official following her refusal to leave the office.

Insisting she will not leave the office, the woman sat on the floor weeping. When she eventually stood up from the floor, she proceeded to another section of the office weeping and lamenting that she wants to return home.

She was heard speaking in pidgin, saying,

“I need my ETC, I’m going to Nigeria.

“I’m tired of staying here, I want to go to my country. I want ETC, I’ve applied since September.

“See the way he was pushing me like a baby, is that good?”

A check by WuzupNaija revealed that the Emergency Travelling Certificate (ETC) is issued to Nigerians living abroad who have lost their standard passport and wish to travel to Nigeria.
