I WILL BE BACK! WWE star, Roman Reigns, announces he has leukaemia, relinquishes universal title on Raw
Roman Reigns, one of the biggest names in the WWE, revealed on Monday night’s episode of Raw that he is battling leukaemia.
In making his announcement, Reigns relinquished the WWE’s “Universal Championship.”
“I’m not going to lie, I’ll take every prayer you can send my way but I’m not looking for sympathy, I’m not looking for you to feel bad for me, because I have faith,” Reigns said in the ring.
WWE’s universal champion, who real name is Leati Joseph Anoaʻi, said he was originally diagnosed with the disease back in 2008 at age 22. Though he quickly went into remission, he has been fighting the disease since.

Reigns apologized to the Providence, Rhode Island, crowd for not being the workhorse and fighting champion his character aimed to be.
He also announced he will relinquish the title effective immediately.
“That’s all lies and it’s a lie because the reality is my name is Joe and I’ve been living with leukaemia for 11 years and unfortunately it’s back,” Anoa’i said.
“Because the leukaemia is back, I can’t fulfil my role. I can’t be that fighting champion and I’m going to have to relinquish the universal championship. I’m not going to lie, I’ll take every prayer you can send my way but I’m not looking for sympathy, I’m not looking for you to feel bad for me because I have faith.”
The 33 years old, however, said relinquishing the title is not a retirement, insisting he would be back after defeating the disease.
“When I come back it’s not going to be about titles and being on top it’s going to be about a purpose,” he said.
“I’m coming back because I want to show the whole world, my family, my friends, my children and my wife that when life throws a curveball at me I will stand in that batter’s box and swing for the fences every single time.
