I will beat Dino Melaye arms down in fresh election, Smart Adeyemi boasts

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Smart Adeyemi has said that his opponent Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) had never won any election in Kogi West as claimed.

Adeyemi who had represented Kogi West twice under the platform of the PDP from 2007 – 2011 and 2011 – 2015, is seeking a third term at the Senate under the APC.

Reacting to Friday’s Appeal Court judgment which ordered a fresh election in the senatorial district, the former lawmaker boasted that he will defeat Melaye when the fresh election is conducted.

“Dino has never won any election, it’s all manipulations. But the judiciary has vindicated us and further reinstated our hope and that it’s the last hope of the masses.

“There’s no basis for comparison between Dino and I, if INEC conducts election again, I will beat him arms down,” he said.

Melaye lost his appeal on the grounds that his application challenging the judgment of the Tribunal, could not prove the allegations that he was not given a fair hearing.

The candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Ibadan Southeast/Northeast Federal House of Representatives in Oyo state during the 2019 general election, Mr Deji Aboderin has defected to the ruling People’s Democratic Party.

Aboderin served as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Network failure leaves Buhari embarrassed at UN event (Photos)

Poor network connection on Thursday prevented Nigeria’s President, Maj.Gen. (Retd.) Muhammadu Buhari, from addressing a United Nations virtual meeting.

Themed on finance for development, the meeting was convened by at the instance of the UN Secretary General, António Guterres.

Buhari’s connection from Abuja had hitches right from the start as he went on and off for seconds before the video connection went off completely, a report by PUNCH said.

He briefly highlighted the impact of COVID -19 on African countries and how the situation was making it difficult for Nigeria to fund the 2020 budget before he was disconnected by poor network connection completely.

Makinde to roll out first set of Digitized CofOs to mark one year in office

NLC, TUC laud Makinde on prompt payment of salaries

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde will on Monday, June 1st 2020 distribute the first set of digitized Certificate of Occupancy to successful applicants under the Oyo State Home Owners Charter (OYHOC) scheme.

This land title document Made Easy Initiative is in line with the Engineer Seyi Makinde led administration’s promise to speed up the process of getting land title documents at an affordable cost and also within 60 days.

These title documents include Certificate of Occupancy, Deed of Assignment, Deed of Sublease and Deed of Mortgage Consents.

A release issued by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Barrister Abiodun Abdu-Raheem said the event which will take place at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan is part of activities commemorating the One year in office of the present administration.

He further explained that the programme which will hold at 12.00 noon would be done with strict adherence to COVID 19 safety measures which will, therefore, limit the number of applicants that will be invited for the symbolic presentation.

Barrister Abdu-Raheem also called on eligible property owners without title or approved documents to take advantage of the window of opportunity.

He encouraged people with outstanding applications to visit Room 4 of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan to find out the status of their applications with a view to ensuring they get their title document as this administration is determined to provide title documents within 60 days of application.
