A man has reportedly died after a protest against the continued detention of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, turned bloody.
Police officials were said to have teargassed and shot at members of the group who converged on the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
Reports claimed policemen chased the protesters from the area with live bullets and one person was killed.
Wuzup Naija had earlier reported that policemen threw teargas canisters at Shiites who had arrived the Unity Fountain for their daily sit out on April 13, 2018.
Deji Adeyanju, the convener of the Concerned Nigerians group who organized the daily sit out was also arrested and later released.
