American actor Idris Elba, on Friday, wed his model girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre at the Ksar Char Bagh hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco, British Vogue reports.
The magazine, which exclusively reported the news and the first photos of the newlyweds, reports that while Elba wore a custom suit by designer Ozwald Boateng Dhowre, the bride wore two bespoke dresses created by Vera Wang.
According to People, the 46-year-old actor, first met Dhowre while working on the 2017 thrilled film The Mountain Between Us. In February, the couple got engaged after Elba—a veteran of The Wire and BBC’s Luther—popped the question following a screening of his directorial debut film, Yardie.
“It was a little spontaneous if I’m honest,” he told People of his proposal.
“I was at a cast and crew screening and among people I loved. We had all worked so hard for this project so I was like I’m doing it right now, here, today.”
And back in March, the bride celebrated her bachelorette party with friends at the Amangiri resort in Utah, sharing a photo with her bridal part with a bridal emoji.
For the ceremony, Dhowre wore a classic off-the-shoulder white A-line gown. Later, she changed into a V-neck style embroidered dress with pearls and gemstones and finished with couture lace. Guests wore black tie.
The celebrations have been spread out over three days. Friends and family attended a “colours of the Souk” themed dinner the night before the wedding at the Amanjena. On April 27, they will attend an all-white party at the Mandarin Oriental, which will emulate the atmosphere of a festival.
