PHOTOS: Police Inspector General arrives Benue to tackle incessant attacks
The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday arrived Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
IG Idris ‘ trip follows the order of President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Buhari had ordered the I.G to move to Benue to restore law and order, prevent further loss of lives and forestall the crisis from escalating.
The state began the year 2018 on a sorrowful note. Gunmen had on New Year’s day attacked and killed 50 persons in Logo and Guma local government areas of Benue, leading to widespread uproar and criticism of the government. Many accused the government of turning a blind eye to the herdsmen versus farmers’ clash in the state.
Here are photos of the I.G’s arrival.
