Army inaugurates 138 flats for soldiers in Kaduna
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army Kaduna, Maj.-Gen. Usman Muhammad, on Thursday, inaugurated renovated 138 self-contained flats for soldiers in Kaduna.
Muhammad said during the inauguration held at the Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna that the gesture was to enhance the welfare of soldiers and as motivation to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
The Newsmen reports that the GOC also inaugurated newly constructed four blocks of 18-self contain flats at the Dalet Barrack.
“Nigerian Army places a high premium on troops’ welfare and has spared no effort at ensuring that they are empowered and motivated to discharge their responsibilities effectively,” he said.
The GOC also said that the renovation of the blocks was another laudable project by the Chief of Army Staff to address the welfare of troops and their families by providing conducive living accommodations.
He said that similar remodelled and renovated accommodations were inaugurated in Ribadu Cantonment in January and May, adding that three blocks consisting of 90 flats are under construction.
The GOC noted that the accommodations, under deplorable conditions have been remodelled to provide separate toilet and kitchen for each family to enhance their comfort and privacy.
He expressed hope that the beneficiaries of the renovated facilities would be inspired to excel in the discharge of their duties.
Mohammed thanked Nigerians for supporting their operations by giving useful information and assured them of continued safety and protection.
The inauguration of renovated and constructed accommodation is carried out simultaneously in all military formations across the country as part of activities marking this year’s Nigerian Army Day Celebration.
This year’s theme is, “Nigeria’s Territorial Defence And Sovereignty: Imperatives for Nigerian Army sustained Training And Operations”.
