Veteran Nollywood actress, Ajoke Silva, has lost her younger sister, Bisi, after a long battle with cancer.

Bisi Silva who is the founder and Artistic Director of the Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, in Lagos, PM News reports.

Joke Silva confirmed the death of her sister on her Instagram page with a photo of the deceased and captioned “Thou mastering me God…”

WuzupNaija reports that an official statement has not been released by the family however, fans and well-meaning Nigerians have paid tribute to the Silva family on the actress IG page.

Bisi Silva opened CCA in 2007 and later Asiko International Art School in Lagos State.

Bisi gained her first degree in Foreign Languages in Paris and then went on to earn her two-year MA in Visual Arts(Curating and Commissioning of Contemporary Art) at the Royal College of Art in London.

Bisi curated numerous important exhibitions in Nigeria, Africa and Europe. These exhibitions included ”Democrazy”, Playing with Chance: El Anatsui” and ”J.D. Okhai Ojeikere: Moments of Beauty.” She was in her fifties.

When she moved over to Nigeria, she blossomed in her field, earning the respect of not only major artists but wealthy art collectors too.
