JUST IN: Award winning photojournalist Yinka Adeparusi confirmed dead in Abuja

The award winning photojournalist of NAIJ.com earlier reported missing, Adeyinka Adeparusi, has been confirmed dead in an accident.

According to a report posted on NAIJ.com, Adeparusi was said to have been involved in a motorcycle accident in Abuja and died on the spot.

“NAIJ.com deeply appreciates all the media outfits that helped to push out information about Adeparusi’s disappearance on Tuesday, November 15. Our gratitude goes to Vanguard, QED.ng, Premium Times, Pulse.ng, Daily Trust and Linda Ikeji Blog among others.

“We also thank other media outlets who also offered their help. To all the dozens of sympathizers, we thank you too. RIP Yinka Adeparusi,” Naij.com’s condolence message read.

Report just reaching us informs that a multiple award winning photojournalist, Yinka Adeparusi, who works with Naij.com, an online news portal in Nigeria, has been declared missing in Abuja.

According to reports, Yinka has not been seen since Sunday, November 13, 2016, when stepped out of his Abuja apartment with a brief ‘I’ll be back’.

Confirming the development was the head of the Abuja office of Naij, Jerrywright Ukwu, who told newsmen that Yinka has not been seen both at work and at home for more than 48hours ago.

Jerrywright also stated that attempt to reach Yinka on his two phone lines have been unsuccessful as both lines keep saying not reachable.

We learnt that the matter had been reported to the Police before Yinka was declared missing.

Meanwhile, Yinka’s brother, Emmanuel, when contacted said that none of the family members has been able to reach him as at the time of filing this report.

He said anyone with useful information should contact the nearest Police station or call him (Emmanuel) on 08092305513.

Yinka is an award-winning photojournalist who graduated from Lagos State University School of Communication, where he bagged double honours in Photojournalism and Cinematography and minor in mass communication.

Among other awards, Yinka received the People’s Choice Award for Human Rights Photography in Africa, German Development Media Awards in 2013 and was the winner of the photojournalism award of the 6th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting in 2011.
