Just in: INEC declares Smart Adeyemi winner of Kogi West election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday declared candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Smart Adeyemi, winner of the Kogi West senatorial election rerun.
INEC returned Senator Adeyemi as the winner of the election having polled 88,373 votes ahead of Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 62,133 votes.
The supplementary poll was conducted following the November 16 election which was declared inconclusive by INEC.
Adeyemi had previously spent two terms at the Senate under the platform of the PDP, he is returning to the Senate for a third term, about five years after he lost the seat to Melaye at the 2015 election.
