JUST IN:Nigeria records 779 new COVID-19 cases, total now 24,077

Nigeria has recorded 779 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 24,077.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known on Saturday.

The center added that 558 patients have died of coronavirus-related complications in the country.

NCDC said, “On the 27th of June 2020, 779 new confirmed cases and 4 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

“To date, 24077 cases have been confirmed, 8625 cases have been discharged and 558 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“The 779 new cases are reported from 22 states- Lagos (285), Rivers(68), FCT(60), Edo(60), Enugu(56), Delta(47), Ebonyi(42), Oyo(41), Kaduna(19), Ogun(18), Ondo(16), Imo(12), Sokoto(11), Borno(9), Nasarawa(8), Abia(5), Gombe(5), Kebbi(5), Kano (4), Yobe (3), Ekiti(3), Osun(2).”

Globally, the novel coronavirus has killed at least 495,288 people since the outbreak emerged in China last December, according to a tally compiled by AFP at 07 pm on Saturday.

At least 9,875,040 cases of coronavirus have been registered in 196 countries and territories. Of these, at least 4,903,500 are now considered recovered.

Europe overall has 195,832 fatalities from 2,628,116 cases, the United States and Canada 133,820 deaths from 2,595,200 infections, Latin America and the Caribbean 108,531 deaths from 2,374,695 cases, Asia 32,494 deaths from 1,187,782 cases, the Middle East 15,195 deaths from 717,659 cases, Africa 9,283 deaths from 362,479 cases, and Oceania 133 deaths from 9,109 cases.
