#JusticeforJemima: Nigerians demand justice for accident victims who died over failure to present police report
Nigerians have taken to social media to demand justice for two ladies and a commercial tricycle rider who were killed by a reckless driver in Jos, Plateau State.
The ladies identified as Jemima and Jennifer died from injuries sustained in the accident after they were allegedly rejected by the Nigerian Air Force hospital in Jos for failing to present a police report.
Jemima’s brother, Othniel, had taken to Twitter to narrate the story of how his sister who was a student of the University of Jos and her friend were hit by a drunk driver.
WuzupNigeria reports that the ladies were in a tricycle when they were hit by the driver who admitted that he was drunk.
When they were rushed to the Air Force hospital, Othniel said they were rejected because they couldn’t present a police report.
He added:
“From there, they were rushed to another hospital, but before any medical help could be given, Jemima and Jennifer had died.”
“Worse still, the police are currently attempting to grant the murderer of three people, bail.”

Nigeria is a failed nation. Every system in Nigeria has failed it’s citizens. We’ve heard cases worse than this which has gone cold. Nigeria hospitals, the Nigeria Police Force & the government have failed us woefully, but how long will our cries be heard? ??#justiceforjemima pic.twitter.com/s14D9htfAj

Hospitals tell accident victims that need immediate treatment to get a police report or they won’t be attended to. Victim is bleeding out, u’re asking for a police report.
What sort of hospitals do we have in this country? @nannm_nigeria @nmanigeria @channelstv #justiceforjemima— BILL GATES PIKIN ✌? (@officialkrey_) October 24, 2019
This is the sad reason #justiceforjemima is trending.
It hurts and could happen to any of us. I am lending my voice. The drunk driver should be prosecuted. Those useless laws in naija hospitals should be swiftly aborted.#justiceforjemima pic.twitter.com/HnSH12dpD9

“Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Act,2017
It is compulsory for EVERY hospital to treat a victim of gunshot wounds irrespective of whether the person has a police clearance or not
If you can treat a gunshot wound, how much more an accident?#justiceforjemima

In a better country,
Jemima and Jeniffer would’ve been admitted and placed under security pending the time a family comes around to submit the unnecessary police report (in this case)
But this Nigeria sha ?#justiceforjemima

The satanic medical policy of our Dear?? as more setback than benefit, I could vividly remembered when I involved in accident I was told that if I can’t provide police report no action will be taking, I spent #5000 to also get police report.#justiceforjemima#justiceforthemases pic.twitter.com/taQfFK6adZ

No security to lives and property in NIGERIA!!!!!
All I see is misplaced priorities everywhere. Why should a police report be the criteria for treatment in a hospital? What an upside-down way of thinking!! #justiceforjemima pic.twitter.com/Q1FUTStwj7— Facesbykoco MUA! (@FacesbykocoMua) October 24, 2019
Everyday we wake up to stories that made me ask if Nigeria was a country or zoo with different animals in human form, even some animals behave better than us. Read what happened to the Jemima and her friend and it is sad, forget this country, nothing is working. #JusticeForJemima

Wtf is this country good at then if a medical institution won’t provide medical support to people without some police report even at the cost of their lives?! Would it be the same if it was some celebrity? What an insensate medical system! ? #justiceforjemima #restinpeace pic.twitter.com/jSWAlcthag

When our country keeps failing us. Hospitals now ask for stupid papers before they begin emergency treatments. Lives are lost and no one even cares.#justiceforjemima pic.twitter.com/60Dtgh4spv
