Kano records first Covid-19 death as cases rises to 21

The Kano State Government has confirmed its first coronavirus death.

The state on Wednesday also confirmed the number of those that had so far contracted the virus rose by 12 within a day.

The State Ministry of Health confirmed the development last night in its verified Twitter Account handle at 11-55 pm.

Following this development, Kano now has a total number of 21 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.

Meanwhile, 34 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Wednesday, taking Nigeria’s total infections to 407.

Also, the NCDC confirmed on Wednesday via a statement on Twitter, that of the 34 cases, 18 are from Lagos, 12 in Kano and two in Katsina, while Delta and Niger State recorded one each.

Already, a total of 128 persons have either been discharged, while 12 deaths have been recorded so far.

Also, NCDC has announced the establishment of an additional two new laboratories in the national laboratory COVID-19 network.

The inclusion of the two brings to 19 of laboratories, with the capacity to test for COVID-19. The Director-General of the NCDC, Dr Chike Ihekpeazu, made the disclosure during a news briefing in Abuja, said, there is still a lot more to be done.
