Kidnapped Delta youth president regains freedom

The youth president of Ohoroh Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Alex Egedegbe, better known as Sabgoga, who was kidnapped on Tuesday night has been released unhurt.

President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youth wing, Worldwide, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, made the disclosure in a statement on Saturday night at about 10 pm.

On Thursday, June 25, the UPU youth president called on all Urhobo youths to engage in a 7-day prayer and fasting programme for Urhobo land to bring an end to the insecurity challenge and other issues threatening the progress of the ethnic group.

In a brief statement seen on his Facebook page on the release of the kidnapped youth leader, he said:

“HE HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM THE DEN OF KIDNAPPERS. TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE. Tears of Joy!

“Our beloved Urhobo Brother (Comrade Alex Egedegbe aka Sagboga has been released from the den of Kidnappers .. I just spoke to him on the phone. Oh Lord! We are indeed graceful.”

He said he spoke with him having gotten to his home, hence the assurance.

In response to a text message sent to the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Hafiz Inuwa, on the development, he said: “Yes, Alex Egedegbe was released. We thank God for that. However, we will soon get to his abductors.”
