Published

The youth president of Ohoroh Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Alex Egedegbe, a.k.a. Sabgoga, who was abducted last Tuesday night by yet-to-be-identified kidnappers, has been released unhurt.

The President of Urhobo Progress Union, Youth Wing Worldwide, Efemena Umukoro, made the disclosure in a statement made available to journalists about 10 p.m. on Saturday.

The UPU youth president had last Thursday called on Urhobo youths to engage in a seven-day prayer and fasting programme to bring an end to insecurity and other issues threatening the progress of the ethnic group.

In a brief statement seen on his Facebook page on the release of the kidnapped youth leader, Umukoro said:

“He has been released from the den of kidnappers. To God be the glory. Great things He has done. Tears of Joy!

“Our beloved Urhobo Brother, Comrade Alex Egedegbe, a.k.a. Sagboga, has been released from the den of Kidnappers. I just spoke to him on the phone. We are indeed grateful.”

Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa, confirmed the release of the abductee, promising that the Command would not relent in its efforts to uncover the perpetrators of the evil act and round them up.

The CP stated in a text message, “Yes, Alex Egedegbe was released. We thank God for that. However, we will soon get to his abductors.”
