Kidnappers demand N100m as ransom for father of ex-Plateau governor
The gunmen who abducted Pa Defwan Dariye, the father of the former Governor of Plateau State, has reportedly demanded N100m for his release.
WuzupNigeria reports that Pa Defwan was kidnapped from his residence in Mushere Community, Bokkos Local Government Area of the state last Thursday. This is the second time the 90+ grandpa would be abducted.
But an anonymous source close to the former Governor, Joshua Dariye, said the kidnappers contacted the family and demanded N100m as ransom.
“The former Governor is not happy about the kidnap of his father for the second time. They (kidnappers) have made contact with the family and they are demanding the sum of N100 million as ransom,” the Punch quoted the source as saying.
The source added that some unscrupulous persons were trying to use Pa Defwan’s predicament to extort money from the ex-governor.
“Our problem now is that some people want to use the kidnap incident to do business. Can you imagine that the kidnappers are demanding N100million as ransom but some people who are talking with them (Kidnappers) are telling the former Governor that the amount demanded by the kidnappers was N200million? We are praying that those holding the old man will see reason to free him because, at his age, he does not deserve this kind of treatment,” the source added.
The Plateau State Police Command has commenced a search to free Pa Defwan, WuzupNigeria reports.
