Lady bags 4.8 CGPA, puts brother who promised her a car if she graduates with first class in dilemma
A Nigerian man is presently in a dilemma after making an unrealistic vow to his younger sister when she was admitted into the University.
The man identified as Prosper Otemuyiwa, a software developer, said he had promised to buy his sister a car if she graduates with a first class, a feat he had thought was impossible for the young girl.
To his surprise, the lady bagged a first class after securing 4.8 out of 5 point Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
Otemuyiwa took to Twitter on Monday morning to share his story, lamenting how his sister’s unexpected academic success has left him puzzled as he has no capacity to fulfill the promise he made to her when she entered into the University.
He wrote,
“When my sister was about entering University, I opened my big mouth & bet with her that if she graduates with a First Class, I’ll buy her a car.
“*She’s smart, but codedly I thought this would never happen* Mama went ahead & graduated with a 4.8. Now, she’s tormenting my life.”
Otemuyiwa’s story is not new in this part of the world, it is a common practice among parents, uncles and aunts who always vow to give children a remarkable gift if they perform well in their academics all in the bid to challenge them to academic excellence. Parents then go ahead to renege on the promise after the child has put so much effort into achieving the feat with his/her eyes fixed on the prize promised by the parents.
