A student of Covenant University (CU), identified as Damilola Ajayi, who was declared missing recently has returned home.

Weeks after her return it has been discovered that she left Lagos for Ibadan in Oyo state to spend time with her boyfriend contrary to her claims that she was kidnapped and raped.

Damilola was declared missing by her friends on Twitter on March 9 when she didn’t return home from work the previous day. Several social media users sympathetic to her disappearance showed support by sharing her pictures across social media platforms to create awareness for her return.

One of her friends identified as Omoniyi Israel who declared her missing took to Twitter on March 9 and wrote:

“She left for work where she’s doing her IT but didn’t get there, her office then called home to report she wasn’t there yesterday.”

He Tweeted again later that day that she had been found, saying “She came back herself weak, Empty and Stranded.”

Meanwhile some Twitter users had suggested that she could be with her boyfriend. None of her friends suspected she could be with the boyfriend, identified as Mark Ikotun, a student of CU, who had denied seeing her and was also actively involved in the search for Dami on social media.

When Damilola eventually returned home she claimed she was kidnapped and raped, her friends however found out she had been with her boyfriend while they were all searching for her. Enraged by her action, her friends took to Twitter to lambaste her and her boyfriend and this led to the trending #LagostoIbadan hashtag on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
