Lagos building collapse: Itafaji residents lament high rise buildings, beg govt to stop developers
Some residents of Itafaji has appealed to the Lagos state government to stop developers from constructing houses beyond 3 storey building
Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent lamented the high number of lives that have been lost to the collapse of such building in the past.
They also appealed to the government to stop churches and school owners in the area from using high rise building as schools.
They also alleged that the collapsed building has been marked for demolition but government officials fail to carry out the demolition because the owner always bribes them.
“The building has been marked for demolition, but the government officials always take bribe. The building has been giving signs of weakness but whenever govt officials come, the owner always bribe them.
“The owners always boast they have people in govt they bribe to overlook the proposed demolition of the building” they alleged.
