#LagosIsland: Saraki prays for trapped victims
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has sent his wishes to the families of those trapped in the building that collapsed on Lagos Island.
The three-storey Baden School, located at Itafaji Street, near Adeniji Adele, collapsed at about 10:20 am on Wednesday.
Mr Saraki, in a tweet, prayed for the safe rescue of the victims.
“My heartfelt prayers are with all the families affected by today’s building collapse in the Ita-Faaji area of Lagos Island, particularly the young school children who are reportedly trapped inside. I pray for their safe rescue,” Saraki wrote.
About 22 persons have been rescued so far.
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has taken frontline role in the rescue operations.
The police and other security operatives are also at the scene of the collapsed building.
The three-storey building housed shops for sale of consumables and a primary school on its last floor.
