LASEMA rescues woman after 40feet truck fell on her
It took the efforts of men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, and several hours of dedicated work to save the life of a woman who was trapped under a 40 feet container under the Iyana Ipaja Bridge in Lagos, Nigeria.
The container fell off the truck onto her leg which got her trapped but fortunately, she didn’t lose her life.
Online reports state that the accident caused great fear and panic and also a traffic jam on the busy road.
As other passers-by run for their lives, others attended to the cry of the woman.
It was learnt that a doctor was summoned to carry out an emergency amputation on the woman’s trapped leg right at the scene before she was able to be freed from beneath the container.
The Director-General of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident, said:
“Upon arrival of LASEMA officials at the accident scene, it was discovered that a 40-feet container had fallen from the bridge at Iyana-Ipaja on an adult female. She, unfortunately, got trapped under the fallen container.”
