Teacher has last laugh after being mocked for buying fairly used car while others bought new ones
A man has recounted a lesson his mother taught him about being smart with his finances.
He explained that his mother was a teacher at Government College, Ibadan, and, at the time, staff were given loans to buy a car each and repay the loan in 4 years.
Other staff bought brand new cars but a particular male staff bought a fairly used car and hired a driver.
The male teacher was laughed at by his colleagues who thought he hired the driver to act like a “big man.”
However, while other staff came to school with their cars and parked the cars till the end of the workday, the man’s driver dropped him off, then drove the car out for taxi business.
The male teacher was able to pay back his loan after only one year. By the end of the 4 years when other teachers were paying back the loan, the man already had 6 taxis.
@harrydaniyan who shared the story his mother told him went on to advise young people to stop living to impress others and start making wise choices for their future.
