Lebanese community donates N100m worth of goods to Kano COVID-19 committee

Lebanese Community in Kano on Saturday donated preventive and curative items worth N100 million to the state Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19.

Presenting the items to the committee, the state Consul General, Mr Khalil Muselmani said the gesture was aimed at supporting the state government toward the fight against the spread of coronavirus in the state.

He said,

“As Honorary Consul of Lebanon in Kano representing the Lebanese Community, I am proud to be standing here before you to extend our support and solidarity with the government of Kano state and its good people in addressing the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic”

According to him, the Lebanese Community in Kano decided to provide these food items and medical supplies to help alleviate the hardship being experienced by the people brought about by the dreaded virus.

“We consider this as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility and obligation towards the good people of the state with whom we share both the good and bad times”

In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje thanked the Lebanese who have been in the state for the past 100 years.

“We are very proud of the Lebanese Community in the state and are very happy with this gesture.

Ganduje commended all those who contributed to the committee and called on the people of the state to donate to the committee for onward disbursement to the poor during the period of the lockdown.
