Low turnout: Vote canversers take over Surulere streets
Some vote canvassers have taken over the streets of Surulere area of Lagos State to sensitise voters to come out and exercise their franchise in the ongoing governorship and State House of Assembly polls.
Our correspondent observed that turnout has not been as high as it was in the same area during the presidential and National Assembly elections.
Some of the canvassers are blowing whistles while some are blowing vuvuzela to arrest the attention of residents who are indoors as the exercise is going on.
Some of the canvassers are right going bells while some are knocking gates to tell the people to come out.
One of the canvassers, Mrs Zubair Feyisayo, who spoke with our correspondent after casting her vote said she and other person’s decision to do that so that residents would come out and vote.
She said, ” As you can see, the turnout is low and this election as very important. Some of us have to move around the streets to ask registered voters to come out and vote.”
