Man, 45, rapes neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter in Lagos
A 45-year old man, Charles Ozoya, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he allegedly engaged his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter in sex and he was eventually caught.
The incident happened at Anjorin Street, Aguda Area of Surulere, Lagos State where they reside.
It was gathered that the suspect, Ozoya, allegedly lured the 10-year old girl into his apartment and engaged her in the romp before being caught in the act and handed over to the Police in the area.
During preliminary investigation, the suspect, Ozoya, reportedly admitted and he was then transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation.
At the Gender Section, he was said to have equally admitted but told the Police that he never raped her because she consented to the act before he engaged her.
However, the Police found him culpable and later charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence. The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs B.O.Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in prison custody without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 18th July 2020 for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available.
It was gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends that he should be charged before the Court for the alleged offence.
