A 71-year-old man, Ashiru Sule, has landed in the custody of the Gombe State Police Command for allegedly serially raping a teenager.

Sule, who was paraded at the police command headquarters by the commissioner of police, Maikudi Shehu, was said to have raped the 13-year-old girl 10 different times in two years.

The septuagenarian was also alleged to have handed his victim a locally made charm called ‘laya’, which made the girl invisible whenever she steals for him.

“Ashiru Sule of Idi quarters Gombe State aged 71 years was arrested in a case of rape of 13 years old of Galdimari quarters Gombe,” Shehu said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect lured the victim to grind corn and to steal more corn at the grinding place. The suspect gave a Talisman to the victim to bury in her house which will prevent her from being caught or seen while in the act of stealing.

“The victim confessed that the suspect had raped her ten times.”
