Anambra: Police arrest man, 49, for physically abusing his nine-year old niece



The Anambra state police have arrested a 49-year-old man for reportedly abusing his nine-year-old niece at his residence in Maryland Estates, 3-3 Onitsha.

According to reports, the man identified as Hillary Apeh had reportedly inflicted wounds and scars all over the little girl’s body identified as Chioma Ogbu.

Reacting to the sad incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra state, Haruna Mohammed said the suspect confessed to inflicting injuries on his nine-year-old niece over repeated delay when sent on an errand.

The victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Haruna said;

“On the 14/6/2020 at about 10:am, police operatives attached to 3-3 Police Station Onitsha arrested one Hillary Apeh ‘m’ aged 40 years of Maryland Estates 3-3 Onitsha.

“Suspect brutally assaulted his niece one Chioma Ogbu ‘f’ aged 9 years of the same address and inflicted several wounds on her body.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect had on 9several occasions physically abused the victim who has scars all over her body.

“Victim was taken to the hospital for treatment while investigation is ongoing after which suspect would be brought to book.”

The suspect will be charged to court after the investigation has been concluded.
