Man emerges from bush, hops onto moving plane at Lagos airport [Video]

Published

Passengers aboard an Azman Airline plane were thrown into apprehension on Friday morning after a stowaway ran into their Port-Harcourt bound flight as it was about taking off from the Lagos airport.

The incident held passengers stranded on the runway for almost an hour as the pilots were said to have stopped the flight on sighting the intruder.

It was gathered that the man, whose identity could not be ascertained yet, emerged from a bush close to the runway at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) in Ikeja and ran after the flight before hopping on the plane.

For 30 minutes we have been stuck at the runway at MMIA by an unidentified man who ran to the aircraft with a bag.  Security has not showed up and everyone is panicking. I have so many questions to ask but right now I can’t even breathe. Pls share this to all relevant authorities.”

A few minutes after his initial post, Orondaam updated the post to narrate how the incident happened, he wrote:

“Dear Nigeria!!!!! Update: He has finally been apprehended and we’ve all disembarked from the flight. FAAN authorities showed up 23minutes into the scene but were scared to approach him. Security eventually shows up after 37mins.

“How it happened!! So our flight was taxing on the runway and about taking off when this man shows up running towards the moving aircraft from the bush.

“The pilot and a few passengers spotted him running towards the aircraft and the pilot immediately slowed down and quickly put off the engine.

“The guy approaches the plane with gloves and starts walking around and under the aircraft holding a bag which he dropped inside the engine.

“Thanks to the Pilot of the Azman Airline for quickly observing and taking swift action.. I still have a million and one questions to ask cos anything could have gone wrong! Nigeria will work perfectly someday. This I know.”

Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Keith Rowley has claimed victory in general elections, a preliminary result that appeared to secure him a second term as leader of the energy-rich Caribbean island country.

Rowley’s People’s National Movement (PNM) “has been called to service in the government … for a second time,” the daily Trinidad and Tobago Guardian quoted him as saying after the elections held on Monday.

The PNM took 22 seats against 19 seats for the opposition United National Congress (UNC), whose leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced that it will ask for recounts in marginal areas, according to the daily.

“The fights are not over until the recounts are done,” she said.

Rowley’s government has been praised for its handling of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country which has reported 295 infections and eight deaths.

But the premier has been criticized over the years-long contraction of the economy, which is largely based on petroleum and petrochemicals, and over the arrival of large numbers of Venezuelan migrants into the country.

Rowley said his party had lost votes from senior citizens who could not go to vote because of the pandemic.

Prophet Samuel Abiara

A former General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church, Prophet Samuel Abiara, has said politicians and government workers who steal from COVID-19 funds are cursed.

In a statement released on Monday, Abiara commended the Lagos State Government for reopening worship centres and pledged the commitment of his congregation to keeping regulations on COVID-19.

He, however, called on religious leaders in the country to intensify prayers for the end of the virus, saying only God could deliver the world from the pandemic.

“For those who are in charge of the donation of money, food items, etc, God said you must not steal anything from the money, food and all items donated for COVID-19 for yourself. If you do that, curses of the pandemic will be in the family of those who do this,” he added.

Abiara also asked Nigerians to go into agriculture, urging those with land, irrespective of the size, to cultivate them.
