Published

A man, Mukaila Mustapha, has died after he was struck with juju by his neighbour, simply identified as Kadiri, during a fight.

WuzupNigeria gathered that 57-year-old Mustapha, a motorcyclist vomited blood to death after he was allegedly beaten by Kadiri during the fight.

The incident reportedly happened at Oke-Ijeun area of Abeokuta in Ogun State last Thursday.

WuzupNigeria gathered that Mustapha had been according to Islamic rites.

Kadiri, popularly known as Sanction in the area, hit Mustapha with the juju after his wife reported the deceased to him over a misunderstanding.

The bereaved’s daughter, Bukola, said that her father was hit with ‘charm’ by the suspect and eventually led to his death.

Bukola explained that her father’s misunderstanding with Kadiri’s wife, Biola led to the involvement of Kadiri who later struck her father with charm during the fight.

She said,

“One of my sisters called me on Thursday that my dad is dead and that I should start going to Oke-Ijeun where my father lived. When I got there I met him sitting on his bike holding the motorcycle’s key.

“He was drenched in a pool of his blood. I called him several times to know what was wrong, but he did not answer.

“I asked people around me to assist in carrying his body into his room. There was blood everywhere, in fact, his motorcycle was soaked in blood. I was the one that removed everything on him. There was no movement that day, but I started calling my family members.

“People in the house told me that he was killed. They told me that my father had misunderstanding with the wife of Kadiri who was washing outside the building. I was told my father asked her to have way so that he could take his bike inside, but the woman ignored and started abusing him.

“According to what they told me, the woman later called her husband and when he came, he started beating my father, he punched him in the nose, mouth, stomach and he started bleeding.

“My father was said to have managed to take his bike inside and gave up the ghost while sitting on the bike.”

The deceased’s daughter, however, insisted that Kadiri could not have beaten her father if he had not hit with a charm.

She added,

“This is not about fighting, what happened is beyond that. I am sure if my dad decided to engage him in fight, he would not have defeated him without using a charm, he cannot beat him because my dad was physically fit. “

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident.

Oyeyemi explained that the suspect was on the run and that the police already began the investigation to ensure his arrest.

He further said the wife of the suspect had been arrested, adding that she was helping the police to ensure her husband was arrested.

The PPRO, however, said the Police did not have any evidence to authenticate that it was the fight that led to the death of the deceased.

He explained that there was no autopsy to prove that the deceased was beaten to death as claimed by the family.

He said,

“it is true, but we have not arrested the suspect. His wife is in our custody and she is assisting the command in locating her husband.

“What we heard was that they fought, it was after the fight that the man died in his room. We cannot categorically say that it was the fight that led to his death or it is natural.

“We have not seen the suspect that is involved, we are still looking out for him.”

Speaking further, PPRO said,

“the man has been buried and that is where the problem is because they said the man is a Muslim and they cannot hold on.

“In this type of issue, if you are alleging that somebody beats your person and the person died, there must be an autopsy to ascertain whether what you are saying is true or not. The autopsy will also help to ascertain whether that is the cause of the death of that person.

“But, as soon as it happened, they said they want to go and bury him. We can’t stop them from burying their relative if they are insisting that they want to bury the person.

“Nevertheless, we are still going to carry out our own investigation.”
