A 35-year-old man, Eyor Eketen, has killed his rival, a married man identified simply as Charles in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Eketan stabbed the family man multiple times at his girlfriend’s apartment located on Nikton road, Kpansia.
Charles was said to have left his family for a pleasurable moment with his concubine.
The woman, Lovina Okon, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, was said to have alerted neighbours that her visitor had been killed by Charles, who is her Yenagoa-based lover.
Startled neighbours reportedly rushed to her room and found Charles stabbing his rival with fury.
A source, who spoke in confidence, said:
“Neighbours met the sight of an angry man, who was cursing and stabbing another, who lay in a pool of his blood and too weak to put up a fight. People ran helter-skelter, shouting and calling for help.
A resident of the area, Mr Maxwell Seibo condemned the act, wondering why the men were fighting over a lady he described as ugly.
He said:
“It is a shameful thing to die in such a manner. The worst thing is that Charles is a married man. He left his family in Port Harcourt to come and die in his girlfriend’s house. It is painful to see two men fight over an ugly lady with sunburns from excessive use of bleaching cream”.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.
He said:
“One Eteken stabbed and killed a man simply identified as Charles at the resident of one Lovina. The suspect has been arrested and detained at the State CID while the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the FMC mortuary. Investigation is ongoing on the matter.”
