Married RCCG pastor arrested for scamming 300 people with fake jobs in Akwa Ibom

A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God [RCCG], one Dignity Lazarus, is in police custody for alleged fraud.

Pastor Lazarus, who was nabbed by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, was said to have scammed 300 persons under the pretence of securing jobs for them in the newly established Ibom Air.

The cleric was arrested at the popular Emerald Lounge, Osongama Estate, Uyo on Saturday, 15 June 2019 at 10 am.

He was alleged to have collected about N100,000 to N250, 000 from his each of his unsuspecting victims to help them secure a job in the company.

It was gathered that the suspect was parading himself as the Special Assistant to Governor Emmanuel on Employment Matters.

It was also gathered that he has already given fake employment letters to over 100 persons, with over 200 billed to receive theirs on Monday, June 17.

Police said the suspect met his Waterloo when he attempted to dupe a journalist in the state. The journalist on sighting the fake Ibom Air Employment Form immediately alerted the relevant authorities which led to his arrest.

Items recovered from the suspect included completed forms of Ibom Air application letters, several passport photographs, a laptop used in printing the fake forms, several signed recommendation letters from the office of the governor and two Android devices.

The suspect is providing the police with useful information which will help in unravelling the antics of fraudsters in the state.

The suspect is said to be in his mid-30s and married with two kids.
