Memoir: Buhari commends Waziri, says significant progress made in loot recovered
The President, Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has commended former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s chairman, Farida Waziri, over her memoir, “One Step Ahead-Life As A Spy, Detective And Anti-Graft Czar”.
Buhari, who gave the commendation at the public presentation of the memoir, also reiterated that corruption must be eradicated for the development of the country.
WuzupNigeria reports that Buhari was represented at the presentation by former Osun State governor and the current minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
“You must know that corruption is a major challenge of governance and development, which we must all seek to eliminate from our system. Our administration’s commitment to eradicating it has been unwavering and we shall unrelentingly pursue its eradication,” Buhari said.
“We have made significant progress in loot recovered, leakages blocked and arrests and prosecution made. If the impact have not been too apparent to some observers, it is because of the deep root corruption has taken and the extent of despair before our advent.”
Dignitaries present at the event included a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd); former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Emeka Anyaoku; representative of the President and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola and representative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Dolapo Osinbajo, who is also the wife of the Vice President.
Others were Senator Barnabas Gemade; former Senate President, Ken Nnamani; Senator Grace Folashade Bent; former First Lady, Hajiya Turai Yar’adua; Minister of Women Affairs, Paulen Tallen; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Sadia Farouk; Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume; Minister of Environment, Sharon Ikeazor.
Also present were Olusegun Adeniyi, former Spokesperson to the ex-President, Umoru Musa Yar Adua; acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu; and Chief presenter (launcher), Chief Remi Makanjuola.
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa‘ad Abubakar III, was represented.
