60-year-old bride

The 60-year-old woman who got married in Anambra state recently for the first time has revealed the reason for the delay.

Augustina Nwatoka said the reason for the delay was because she never met a partner who belongs to her Christian denomination.

The internet was awash with the news of Augustina Nwatoka wedlock to her lover, a Lagos-based businessman in January.

Goge Africa TV co-presenter, Nneka Isaac Moses, who is a niece to the bride, shared the story on her Instagram page and it didn’t take long before it went viral with many social media users using it as a point of contact to ask God for their own testimony.

Nneka wrote on her page in January:

“She’s in her 60’s and got married just yesterday for the very first time! Yes!! Isaac and I had to dash back to the village in Anambra state to witness the most beautiful wedding of this century! Aunt Nwatoka had never been married all her life.

“She’s Isaac’s aunt from his father’s side and one of the best aunt in-law you can wish for. She took excellent care of my husband’s grandma until she passed in her 90’s.

“She was always there for the whole family each time we came home for Christmas or … I was personally surprised but pleasantly so when a handsome Enugukwu man Mr. Okeke decided to take her hand in marriage. Aunt Nwatoka as she’s fondly called was literarily swept off her feet????. And just yesterday he wedded her at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Enugukwu, Anambra State.

“Mr. Okeke is a Lagos businessman while his new bride works in Anambra. Having found happiness, the groom who lost his first wife many years ago is giving himself another chance ?

“And who would have thought that our dear Aunt Augustina Nwatoka at her age will ever be married! God is awesome. God is merciful. He never gives up on His children so, be positive as this year will not pass you by IJN.”

The bride and groom in a recent interview with BBC shared their experience and how marriage life is going for them.

About how they met, the couple said they met through a mutual family friend who made it very easy for them to interact. They both said they can’t wait to see how life unfolds and would take it one step at a time.

“Now I am a complete Man, I am relaxed. I often fetch water for her, she doesn’t have to tell me. I try to assist in whatever way I can” the groom gushed.

“My advice to young girls searching for a partner is that they should be patient. They should remain cool headed and try not to jump in and out of relationships, if not you will just end up wasting your life.”Nwatoka said.

On childbirth, she said,

“People say I have passed the childbearing age but I want a child if God blesses me with a child I will be very happy.”
