Men arrested for possession of used female pant

Three-man arrested for being in possession of used female pants on Wednesday appeared before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile Ife Osun state.

The defendants; Odelola Olawuyi, Ajayi Damilare, and Toheeb Elugbaju, were caught with the item and they failed to give a convincing explanation on how they came about it.

Addressing the court, Police prosecutor, Emmanuel Abdullahi, said the men committed the offense between April 6th and 7th, 2020 in Ile-Ife, when they conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by having unlawfully in their possession a used female pant.

He added that defendants also failed to comply with the stay at home order of Osun State government meant to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The offenses, he said contravened Sections 17 (11) of the Quarantine Act Q2 Laws of the Federation, 2004, Public Health Law Cap 135, Laws of Osun, 2002.

After listening to their charge, the defendants pleaded not guilty.

Their counsel, Mr. Leke Dada, urged the court to commit the defendants to bail.

Magistrate Joseph Owolawi, in his ruling, committed the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

He then adjourned the case until May 15, for hearing.
