Metropolitan Not Trekopolitan: Lagosians take okada, keke ban protest to Lagos marathon venue [Photos]
Some youths on Saturday protested against the ban of motorcycles (Okada) and tricycle (Keke) at Eko Atlantic, which is the finish line of the 2020 Lagos City Marathon.
The placard-carrying protesters complained that the Okada ban was making life difficult for them.
Among the inscriptions on their placards are ‘fix bad roads, less traffic’, ‘metropolitan not treko-politan’, and ‘I have not been able to resume in my office at stipulated 08 am since Okada ban’.
However, it was gathered that security operatives at the Eko Atlantic resisted the protest.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police in Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Odumosun, said the police and security agencies provided tight security for the Lagos City Marathon.
Odumosu said on Saturday at the National Stadium Surulere immediately the marathon kicked off that everything was in order, stressing that the police provided 2,000 men out of 5,000 security personnel deployed for the event.
He noted that no incident or arrest was made.
“We have tight security. Everything is going on well. No incident has happened, no arrest made so far,“ he said.
The police, Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Road Safety and private security personnel provided security for the event.
