Missing phone: Suspects who poured pepper in a lady’s vagina lied against her to extort money, says Edo CP
The Police in Edo State has exonerated a female sex worker whose vagina was bathed with grounded raw pepper over a missing phone in Benin, Edo State.
According to the commissioner of police in the state, Hakeem Odumosun, investigations revealed that no phone was missing in the first place.
Odumosun said that Favour was accused of stealing the phone just to extort money from her.
The CP said this when he addressed some female protesters led by the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and Edo State Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Yinka Omorogbe.
He assured the protesters that the police would carry out a thorough investigation to ensure the case is not thrown out by any judge.
Chairperson of FIDA, Barr. Iryn Omorogiomwan, urged the CP to ensure investigations are expedited so that all the suspects are convicted if found guilty.
Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, said the crime against Favour shocked the human conscience and would not be tolerated by Edo people.
Mrs. Obaseki said her husband was very upset and angered by the incident.
Governor Godwin Obaseki who immediately signed the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) bill into law assured that law would take its course.
Obaseki condemned the action and said his administration would not cover anybody no matter how highly placed.
Recall that WuzupNaija had reported how the sex worker, one Favour Ada Friday, was beaten by her accusers, stripped naked, her vagina peppered despite her repeated denial that she did not steal the phone.
The 24-year-old was also beaten with charms by a native doctor, who claimed his “gods” revealed Favour as the thief.
Following the viral video, six persons were arrested over their involvement in the matter.
The six persons arrested are Otoghile Joel (owner of the phone alleged to have been stolen by the young woman), Lucky Igbinovia (alias “One Man Squad” in whose house the young woman was tortured), Edobor Osemwengie (manager of Lafun Hotel), Kingsley Iyamu, Gregg Eweka and Friday Omorogbe.
According to reports, the lady had lodged in a hotel with a customer who claimed his phone went missing after their sexual escapade.
After a series of inquiries, the lady was taken to an oracle who reportedly said she stole the phone.
