At a time when the célèbre internet phrase ‘men are scum’ is almost becoming a cliche, a Nigerian lady has taken to micro-blogging site Twitter to narrate how a man went out of his way to attend to her plight and bring her succour when she was down.

The lady identified simply as Toyosi revealed via her Twitter handle @beethemodella that the man, who has been asking to be her boyfriend, rushed down to her house early on Sunday morning with gifts after informing him a night before that she was feeling weak as she was on her period.

The lady added that the man kept her company for a while before leaving for church.

Toyosi, however, added that she doesn’t have feelings for the man.

She tweeted:

“I told this guy last night that I’m on my period and so I’m weak and all. Surprisingly, he showed up this morning as early as 6am with goodies and to spend a little time comforting me before he drove off to church.

“You know what the problem is? I don’t have feelings for him.”

This clause in her story led to some criticisms and commendations from social media users.

While some slammed her for leading the guy on, others argued that it is normal for a person in love to be chasing after someone who doesn’t have the same feeling.

Some social media users also pointed her to her old pinned tweet where she said she is in need of a boyfriend who would give her attention and take care of her.

The old tweet read:

“Where can I buy a boyfriend who is actually single, nasty af and would give me all the attention in the world? I’ll pay, I promise.”

Following the criticisms generated by her tweet, she went further to clarify:

“Yes, I’ve tried my best telling him before tweeting. To you, awọn elenu gbigbe under my comment.

“And to the olodos saying “you collected the goodies”. Did you read that anywhere in the tweet where it was stated? Lmaooo”

I’m happy you let him know you don’t have feelings for him. There is no reason to waste his time. 11 years ago, I had similar experience. Though it was tough for me to take but it is what it is. I moved on with my life. As at today, we are both married and still best of friends.
